Hearts yearning-

It's that time of the year, when many people I know long for companionship. Friends talking about their "ideal" mate. I find myself fruitlessly looking through the on-line singles, seeing a lot of the same faces that have been there for the last few years. Why are they still there? For that matter, why am I?

I've dated here and there, and had a few short-term relationships. I have a couple of old flames who want to rekindle our relationships. However, I have come to the realization that I've not established standards for myself in the past, and am now in the limbo of learning how to connect with men of the proper calibre. I realize that I would not feel "fulfilled" if I started back up with the punk rocker/video store manager. I want someone just a little more "grown up" who has some stability (ie, job, transportation, place to live), but yet is still young at heart. Where is the man who can appreciate my passions? Who might even want to jump on that plane to France, and sit at the cafes with the ghosts of the Lost Generation, see the gardens at Giverny where Monet was inspired to paint some of his most famous creations. Someone who can appreciate that although I may not be as erudite as I once inspired, I am still receptive to subjects I know little of. Ironic how when I was a journalism major, I was made to feel less "intelligent" than my pre-med roommate. Now that I have a degree in biology, I have experienced the same treatment from liberal arts types. How hypocritical, but c'est la vie!

Back to the wish list:
Someone who doesn't spend every waking moment behind the computer, but will go out to see movies and live music with me. Even just a little adventurous- skeet/trap shooting, camping, hiking. All fun things to do, but even better to share.

And so it goes.

I'll leave it as an exercise for the reader to determine how I read the phrase 'jump on the plane'.

Yeah, it seems like you can go through meaningless relationship after meaningless relationship, or set your sights high and wait and wait and wait and wait and wait and wait...
