Water for People- Our chapter is currently working with a community in Guatemala on a water project, for which I have to provide information on nitrates in groundwater. I suspect many WFP chapters will be asked to assist with long-term water supply and sanitation projects in Asia.
I have yet to see a direct appeal from Oxfam International, but suspect it will come through soon. Last appeal received was received after major water/wastewater facilities were destroyed in Iraq in March 2003. Oxfam and The World Health Organization sent out an alert for the risk of a major outbreak of cholera and other diseases if water and sanitation facilities were not restored/rebuilt immediately.
