Monkey showed up during the swim, but I asked for a Swim Angel to accompany me. Good thing, because I had a leg cramp in the last 500 yards, and had to hold onto her noodle float. She also recognized the swimmers had gotten off course, so she directed the pack the correct way. Unfortunately added time to our swim, but good to have someone looking out for us!
Bike was okay, but my right calf was still screaming at me as I tried to mount the smallest but steepest hill, and then threw my chain on the next major downhill. Managed to build up some speed on the remaining half, but as I came uphill I was blocked by two riders riding abreast and had to change gears suddenly. Overcompensated, and the chain jammed. Had to wait a few minutes for a bike support to help get it fixed...
Run was barely that, leg still hurting, so I just enjoyed the end, with intermittent running. Running the last 1/2 mile was the toughest, with the sun beating down. The encouragement from the spectators yelling "Go 825!" kept me running (instead of strolling) as I struggled through the final 500 yards.
Only improved my time by a few minutes, but I finished! CJ did very well for her first time, and I was glad we met up on the run course near the end.
The day after, and I am only a little worse for the wear. Calf still hurts, and my shoulders are sunburnt, but I feel great!
