We didn't have a clue about Dallas, so we wound up walking twenty minutes each day to the conference. Then we walked to Deep Ellum for dinner, nothing open except one or two bars and a lot of tattoo parlors. One of the tat artists told us she only ate at Cafe Brasil on the corner. Turned out to be a really great place, could have eaten there every meal! Very old Austin like.
Walk back was scary- desolate streets, no cars. Apparently crime is so out of hand, folks don't walk far in Deep Ellum anymore. Didn't realize that until the next day when we read some letters to the editor in the Dallas Observer.
Spent more time watching movies in the hotel room rather than out and about, like the folks from Arkansas and Lousiana! They were very nice, and we had a fun lunch with them on Wednesday.
