We made it safely through the obstacle course of deer, racoons, and more deer through the six hour nighttime drive, and stayed over night at the Econolodge in Ft. Stockton. Their idea of a continental breakfast is a choice between white or wheat stale bread, or frosted or non-frosted cereal, with coffee water to wash it down.
Stopped off in Marathon to get gas since SOMEONE forgot, despite the numerous times I had mentioned strategic topping of the tank in remote areas...No problems though.
Time to hit the road and get up to the Chisos Basin, BEAUTIFUL WEATHER, wish you were all here!! Even thought of soopageek while driving, worried about proper following distance behind the semis!
