It's a Go!!

Okay, come hell or HIGH water I am going to make it to New York City in two weeks for the first time ever. Unfortunately, I missed duckydoo's fabulous bachelorette party earlier this month when I had to postpone my trip thanks to Rita. Good news is that this time drfardook will be in town for the duration of my visit, so I plan on abusing, I mean, using him as a tour guide!
So pals here and there, any recommendations? Shopping, drinking, sightseeing off the beaten path?? I hope to stop by to see razorart for one of her famed tasty mojitos....

Wilcox is practically insisting that I take some time off, but honestly I haven't got any desire to travel. I'm thinking maybe I'll head up to DC and do a weekend side trip to Baltimore to hang out with the Ravens geek I met at SXSW. I wonder how long the train ride is from DC to Manhattan.

How long are you going to be there?

Eat in Little Italy; Benito II and Il Fornaio, both on Mulberry Street, are really good and reasonably priced.
Consider visiting The Cloisters run by the Metropolitan Musem of Art.
Battery Park/Statue of Liberty/Ellis Island - Go early, plan at least spending a half day. It's toally worth it.
Want cheap? Walk across the Brooklyn Bridge, take a subway back.
Central Park: especially, the Ramble and the Castle.
