Last Call!

Last call- boarding for France, April 20th, 2005, estimated return April 26th. Shaun decided that she couldn't afford to go. I would love to have a travel companion this time, but if not will go alone. Anyone interested? I speak French adequately.

Flight around $400, and a 4 day rail pass if two people buy is about $200 a piece. Lodging split should be less than $40 a person/night....Leave Wednesday 4/20, arrive Paris at 9am Thursday. Depart 4/25 Monday late afternoon, return Tuesday evening.

Toying with the following itineraries:

#1- North France: Rennes, Versailles, Mont St. Michel, Beaches of Normandy
#2- East/Riviera: Beaune, Avignon, Nice, Antibes, Nimes
#3- West: Bordeaux, Nantes, Bretagne

No Marseilles or Toulouse, short time in Paris (front and back end)
While in Paris- another visit to Musee d'Orsay, Rue Cler, Left Bank.

I want to pick up Rick Steves book on France, maybe get some ideas from there...Would love to explore back doors of France.

oh, drats!
I even think there's a Delta flight from LGA arriving in Paris at the same time :(

Isn't that what Capitalist, i mean, credit cards are for? Think of the great photos, you could write it off as a business expense! :P

I would go with you in a heartbeat if I hadn't already planned a trip for April 30th. This is one of my dream destinations. I'm so jealous!

Keep us posted on your travels. Maybe a vacation diary of all the cool stuff you see and pictures, yes lots of pictures.

Have a great time girl!

You GO, Girlfriend!
I would so love to go with you, and hit the Europa Jazz Festival in the Loire Valley. Have a good trip yourself, and see you at the volunteer party at Igmo's! What will we sing this year? I am making Rusty sing "love shack" with me, he just doesnt know it yet!

Want Ads
Do you think they have any Honey Cone?

Wanted, young man single and free
Experience in love preferred, but will accept a young trainee
Oh I'm gonna put it in the want ads, I need a love that's true
Gonna put it in the want ads, my man and I are through

At home I find myself, lost and all alone
My man is playing the field, the thrill is gone
He stays out all night, says he's with the boys
But lipstick on his collar, perfume on it too
Tells me he's been lying, tell ya what I'm gonna do
I'm gonna put it in the want ads, this girl's in misery
Gonna put it in the want ads, somebody rescue me

I spend my nights alone, cryin' bitter tears
Although I cry aloud, nobody really hears
And when I need him most, he's never by my side
He's either playing cards, or drinking at the bar
He thinks that I'm a fool, I'm going to the evening news
Gonna put it in the want ads, I need somebody new
Gonna put it in the want ads, my man and I are through

Extra extra, read all about it, wanted, young man single and free
Experience in love preferred, but will accept a young trainee

I'm afraid that my visit home has landed me temporarily in the 70's. I'm not sure when I'll snap out of it. These have been making the playlist also:

Proud Mary
Band of Gold
Patches
Sitting on the Dock of the Bay
Clean up Woman

Re: Want Ads
Didn't we sing "Band of Gold" at your birthday party? That was fun! I hope Eydie has expanded her song library!

Sounds like a great trip. Not gonna be in a position to go, unfortunately. And Z would want to go too, of course, and think that her job would prevent that.

If I didn't have a totally unchangeable, and important appointment on the 26th, I would SO go with you!

I happen to be French, and ever since my grandmother died, I've wanted to go, kind of in her memory type of thing.

Hi first posting--your LJ looked interesting.

Avignon (and the surrounding area) is simply one of the best places I have ever been. I am greener than a really green thing that you're going at this wonderful time of year!

Thanks for stopping by!
We'll see if I get to go- my boss is being squirrelly about me going, since it's so close to the week I just had off for SXSW. Plus if I wait, I could make it an 11 day trip instead of 6-7 days.

Re: Thanks for stopping by!
That's neat- have you both been there, or just know a lot about it?

I went to Shakespeare and Co. on the Left Bank, and Deux Magots, back in 2000. Reminds me that I need to write an entry about that French experience, especially a jolt from Matisse!
